State of the Hydrogen Nation

State of the Hydrogen Nation Survey

The HEA has launched a major survey for members and wider businesses operating across the UK’s hydrogen industry.

The State of the Hydrogen Nation survey is a health check of the hydrogen industry in the UK today with questions on critical issues like business confidence, skills, investment, and market barriers.

The findings from the survey will inform the HEA’s inaugural State of the Hydrogen Nation report, to be published in early 2026, providing a comprehensive overview of business sentiment across the UK’s hydrogen industry.

Our aim is for this report to become an annual fixture within the UK hydrogen industry, serving as an authoritative, data-driven reference on the state of the industry.

Our findings will provide Government and policy makers, Industry and financial stakeholders with key insights into the health of the UK’s hydrogen industry. It will also include recommendations on the steps Government can take to maximise the jobs, investment and decarbonisation opportunities of hydrogen.

Hearing from business at the forefront of the sector – covering production, storage and distribution, end-use, technology and equipment manufacturing – will provide an important barometer of business confidence.

The survey is now closed.

Businesses who do respond to the survey will receive and advance copy of the State of the Hydrogen Nation report when it is published in 2026.
