The Hydrogen Energy Association (HEA) has appointed Dr Emma Guthrie as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking an exciting new chapter in its role as a leading voice in the hydrogen energy sector.
Dr Guthrie, a highly respected leader in the hydrogen sector with extensive experience in advancing hydrogen technologies and infrastructure, starts on January 30th.
She succeeds Celia Greaves, who has led the HEA for two decades, driving significant advancements in policy advocacy, industry collaboration, and technological innovation.
Dr Guthrie brings a wealth of experience to the position, including 15 years at Air Products where she held a range of positions, including UK Business Development Manager for Hydrogen Energy Systems.
In this role, she spearheaded the deployment of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and infrastructure in cities including London and Copenhagen, through the coordination of multi-stakeholder demonstration projects. She also spent nine years at speciality chemical distributor IMCD Group in a variety of commercial roles.
Dr Guthrie said: “I am honoured to join the HEA at such a critical and dynamic time for the hydrogen sector. I look forward to building on the organisation’s impressive legacy and working with members and stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen as a key enabler of the clean energy transition.”
Under Celia Greaves leadership, the HEA established itself as leading voice in the hydrogen energy sector. It has made significant impact across policy development and advocacy, strengthened industry collaboration, and fostered growth through its membership, working groups, events and annual conference.
She said: “It has been an immense privilege to lead HEA, and I am proud of what we’ve achieved together. My commitment to the hydrogen sector remains steadfast and I will continue working in the field as a consultant, supporting its growth through other avenues. This is an exciting new phase for HEA, and I am confident Dr Guthrie will inspire confidence and energy as she leads us forward.”
